Our Environment

The Early Childhood division of the Lubavitch Hebrew Academy (LHA) is where the magic begins at South Florida’s premier Jewish Day School since 1985. Children, Toddlers through 8th Grade, are welcomed into a positive, growth-minded environment based on a love for Yiddishkeit, our Rebbe and Chassidishe values, and where they are encouraged to enhance their unique strengths and abilities. Their interests and skills are cultivated and engaged through the timeless teachings and guidance of Torah and Chassidus. Whether in the classroom or playground, at Judaic studies, or math and science, the young students receive an interactive, multi-faceted, hands-on learning experience that will last for a lifetime.

Curriculum

Our curriculum is child-centered and focused on their natural curiosity, and is the first introduction of a student to structured study. The weekly Parsha, Yomim Tovim, Aleph Beis and pre-literacy skills, and general studies are brought to life using both classic and modern teaching methods.  Our program is designed to cultivate our students’ interests and skills using Torah themes which are integrated into all aspects of the day from social-emotional skills development through play, to literacy, math, and science. Our lessons integrate art, music, sensory experience, and many other modalities to encourage children to think and explore.

Teacher-Child Interaction

Our teachers and academic staff use gentle and effective interaction methods with students. Teachers attend continuing education seminars focused on the best way to interact and guide behavior in the most positive and constructive manner. A trained child specialist counsels our staff on the best path forward to understand the individual needs and spirit of every child.

Extracurricular and Outdoor activities

We believe that learning takes place in many different environments and we offer our students a fun variety of extracurricular and outdoor activities. In music class, children are able to appreciate the joy of sounds and melodies. In the Kidokinetics sports fitness program, children learn to tumble, balance, jump, climb and build muscle and coordination.

The Early Childhood division has two playgrounds providing many opportunities for the children to use imaginative play and recreation. In addition to the standard facilities, the playgrounds include an outdoor kitchen, water play, and a sandbox. The children become engrossed in the activities and allow their imagination and capabilities to shine.
